Somebody once wrote me, asking, “There are always a lot of teachers and students of A Course in Miracles available, but there has to be something which you’ve hooked into, or caught onto? A thing that triggered a transformation or perhaps a major healing. So, that which was it?”
“Trust,” I said.
Think about your life because it appears to be these days with regards to the story. How can we answer the question; “Who do I trust? Where do I believe my safety lies? How will I be sustained? Who is my source?” So whenever we talk about the final stage of the awakening being pure trust, it’s simply about disengaging and withdrawing our faith and rely upon all of these made-up concepts, beliefs, and ideas in the world. It’s a lot like building a big house of cards, stacking on one card after the other. Then a good wind comes along and poof, it’s only blown over. It can’t even stand a little gust of wind. It’s so frail. It’s so temporary. It’s so transitory; It had been this sense of placing rely upon the Spirit and withdrawing rely upon anything else; those items that were identified and learned as worldly accomplishments. Why should we rely upon those? a course in miracles books Have they ever brought us lasting peace and happiness? Are they really trustworthy? It surely comes right down to the essence of who is my buddy? Is it Spirit or matter? Is it Spirit or form? Furthermore how most of us have tried trusting people? Has anybody tried that one?So you are asking the question, “If someone dies or appears to be dying of starvation, what does that say about their mind?” Where all of this is heading is to the awareness that everything is mental. What this awakening will show you is that everything is mental and that everything is just a hallucination. This is a world of ideas and what we call manifest reality, is not reality at all. There’s no distinction between thought and form. Jesus has to create his whole workbook in A Course In Miracles on making the bond between thought and form. His lessons start with, “Nothing I see means anything,” (W-1) and, “I’ve given everything I see all this is it has for me.” (W-2) Then, He works his way around number four, “These thoughts do not mean anything&rdquo ;.Now, He’s referring to thoughts. First He’s referring to perception, then about our thoughts, then He comes back with lessons 5,6,7,8,9 … perception, perception, perception, perception, perception … and then number 10, “My thoughts do not mean anything.” You can see he’s trying to melt everything together and show the final veil or stage of awakening, that is trust.
The Holy Spirit uses time and energy to teach us there is no such thing as time, to take us back compared to that timeless moment that is the gateway to eternity. He uses symbols to show us they are all illusions and they are all equally meaningless. That’s precisely the method of operation of Holy Spirit. The Spirit has to work well with the mind to loosen the attachments from the investment in a myriad of things. What kind of things would you purchase, these days?
